Parts Identification

Familiarize yourself with the main parts of your thermometer.

  1. Display Unit: Houses the LCD screen and control buttons.
  2. Stainless Steel Probe: The long, pointed metal shaft that senses temperature.
  3. Probe Guard/Protective Sleeve: A plastic cover that slides over the probe for storage.
  4. Control Buttons: ON/OFF, HOLD, and °C/°F buttons located on the display unit.
  5. Battery Compartment: Located on the back of the display unit (requires a screwdriver to open).

WARNING! The probe tip becomes extremely hot during use. Always use the protective sleeve or a heat-resistant holder when not inserted in food/liquid.

Getting Started

Before first use, prepare your thermometer.

  1. Insert Battery: Open the battery compartment on the back using a small screwdriver. Insert one 1.5V AAA battery, observing correct polarity (+/-). Close compartment.
  2. Remove Protective Sleeve: Slide the clear plastic protective sleeve off the probe.
  3. Power On: Press the ON/OFF button. The display will show all segments briefly, then the current temperature.
  4. Select Units: Press the °C/°F button to choose your preferred temperature scale (Fahrenheit is default for US models).

Operation Instructions

Using your thermometer for accurate readings.

  1. Preheat: Turn on the thermometer before placing the probe into hot liquid to allow it to acclimate.
  2. Insert Probe: Fully immerse the tip of the stainless steel probe into the candy syrup, oil, or liquid you are measuring. Do not let the probe touch the bottom or sides of the pot, as this can give an inaccurate reading.
  3. Read Temperature: Hold the probe steady. The display will show the current temperature. Wait for the reading to stabilize (stop climbing).
  4. Use HOLD Function: Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading on the display. This allows you to remove the thermometer and read the temperature easily. Press HOLD again to resume live readings.
  5. Power Off: Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds to turn off the unit, or it will turn off automatically after the set time.

Tip: For candy making, stir the syrup briefly before taking a temperature reading to ensure an even temperature throughout.

Care & Cleaning

Proper care ensures longevity and accuracy.

  1. Cleaning the Probe: After use and once cooled, wash the stainless steel probe with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  2. Cleaning the Display Unit: Wipe the display unit with a damp cloth. Do NOT immerse it in water or place it in a dishwasher.
  3. Drying: Dry all parts completely before storage.
  4. Storage: Always slide the protective sleeve over the probe tip before storing. Store in a cool, dry place.

CAUTION! Never plunge a hot probe into cold water, as this can damage the sensor and cause inaccurate readings.

Battery Replacement

When the low battery icon appears or the display becomes dim.

  1. Ensure the thermometer is off and completely cool.
  2. Use a small Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screw on the battery compartment cover on the back of the display unit.
  3. Remove the old AAA battery.
  4. Insert a new 1.5V AAA battery, observing the correct polarity (+ and - markings).
  5. Replace the cover and tighten the screw. Do not over-tighten.

Dispose of old batteries according to local regulations.
