Safety Precautions

Read all safety information before use. Improper use can result in electric shock, injury, or damage to the meter.

  1. Do not exceed the maximum input limits for each function.
  2. Do not measure voltage with test leads in current jacks.
  3. Disconnect test leads from circuit before changing function or range.
  4. Replace battery when low battery indicator appears.
  5. Do not use if meter or test leads are damaged.

WARNING! High voltage can be lethal. Use extreme caution when measuring live circuits. Ensure proper function selection before connecting to circuit.

First-Time Setup

Prepare the multimeter for first use.

  1. Inspect: Check meter and test leads for any visible damage.
  2. Install Battery: Open battery compartment, install 9V battery if not pre-installed.
  3. Connect Test Leads: Insert black lead into COM jack. Insert red lead into VΩmA jack for most measurements, or 10ADC jack for current above 200mA.
  4. Power On: Rotate function selector to desired measurement function.

CAUTION! Always start with the highest range if unknown value, then switch to lower range for better accuracy.

Specifications

Controls and Display

Function Selector Rotary Switch: Selects measurement function and range. Input Jacks: COM (common), VΩmA (voltage, resistance, current up to 200mA), 10ADC (current up to 10A). Buttons: POWER, HOLD (data hold), RANGE (manual range selection on some models).

Display Symbols: "OL" (overload), battery icon (low battery), AC/DC indicators, unit symbols (V, A, Ω), HOLD indicator.

Measurement Functions: DCV, ACV, DCA, Resistance (Ω), Continuity (buzzer symbol), Diode Test, Transistor Test (hFE).

Measurement Procedures

General Steps: Turn off power to circuit if possible. Select function and appropriate range. Connect test leads to correct jacks. Connect probes to circuit. Read display.

  1. DC Voltage: Select DCV range. Connect red lead to positive, black to negative. Read value.
  2. AC Voltage: Select ACV range. Connect leads to AC source. Read value.
  3. DC Current: Select DCA range. Break circuit and connect meter in series. Observe polarity.
  4. Resistance: Select Ω range. Ensure circuit is de-energized. Connect across component.
  5. Continuity: Select continuity symbol. Connect across circuit. Buzzer sounds if resistance < 30Ω.
  6. Diode Test: Select diode symbol. Connect red to anode, black to cathode. Typical reading 0.5V to 0.8V.
  7. Transistor Test: Select hFE. Insert transistor into correct socket (NPN/PNP). Read hFE value.

Tip: Use HOLD button to freeze reading for hard-to-see areas.

Battery Replacement

Replace 9V battery when low battery icon appears.

  1. Turn meter off and disconnect test leads.
  2. Remove battery compartment cover.
  3. Remove old battery and dispose properly.
  4. Install new 9V battery, observing polarity.
  5. Replace cover securely.

WARNING! Do not operate meter with low battery as readings may be inaccurate.

Care & Maintenance

Store in dry, cool place. Clean with dry cloth only; do not use solvents or water.

CAUTION! Do not expose to extreme temperatures, moisture, or direct sunlight. Inspect test leads regularly for cracks or exposed wire.
