Getting Started

Ensure vehicle is in a safe, well-ventilated area and ignition is OFF.

  1. Locate OBD2 port: Typically under dashboard near steering column.
  2. Connect scanner: Plug connector firmly into vehicle's OBD2 port.
  3. Turn ignition to ON (engine OFF): Do not start engine.
  4. Scanner powers on automatically: Display will illuminate.
  5. Follow on-screen prompts: Press READ button to begin.

CAUTION! Do not disconnect scanner while in operation. Ensure vehicle is in Park (automatic) or Neutral (manual) with parking brake engaged.

Controls and Display

Scanner has minimal controls for easy operation.

Buttons: READ/ENTER (primary function), ERASE/CLEAR, SCROLL UP/DOWN, EXIT/BACK.

Connecting to Vehicle

Proper connection is critical for communication.

  1. Ensure ignition is OFF and key removed.
  2. Locate OBD2 port (16-pin, trapezoidal shape).
  3. Align scanner connector with port and push firmly until click.
  4. Turn ignition to ON position (do not start engine).
  5. Scanner will power up and display welcome screen.
  6. If no communication, check fuse for OBD2 port (usually in vehicle fuse box).

Tip: If scanner doesn't power on, verify ignition is in ON position and check vehicle battery.

Reading & Clearing Codes

Primary functions for diagnosing Check Engine Light.

  1. Reading Codes:
    • Connect scanner and turn ignition ON.
    • Press READ button.
    • Scanner communicates with ECU and displays "Reading Codes".
    • Codes appear on screen (e.g., P0300).
    • Use SCROLL to view all codes.
    • Press READ again on a code to view definition (if available in library).
  2. Clearing Codes:
    • After repairs are completed, ensure all codes have been read.
    • From main menu, select ERASE or press ERASE button.
    • Confirm "Erase Codes?" prompt.
    • Scanner displays "Erasing..." then "Codes Cleared".
    • Check Engine Light should turn off.
    • Note: Clearing codes will reset I/M readiness monitors.

WARNING! Only clear codes after diagnosing and repairing the issue. Clearing codes without repair will cause light to return.

Viewing Live Data

Monitor real-time vehicle parameters (if supported by vehicle).

  1. From main menu, select "Live Data".
  2. Scanner requests available parameters from ECU.
  3. Use SCROLL to navigate through data PIDs (Parameter IDs).
  4. Common parameters: Engine RPM, Coolant Temp, Vehicle Speed, MAF, Oxygen Sensor voltages, Fuel Trim.
  5. Data updates approximately once per second.
  6. Press EXIT to return to main menu.

Note: Not all vehicles support all live data parameters. Refer to vehicle service manual for specific PID availability.

Proper care ensures long scanner life.
