Safety Precautions

Read all safety information before use. This meter is designed for indoor use.

  1. Do not exceed voltage or current ratings.
  2. Use proper personal protective equipment when working with electricity.
  3. Do not use if meter or test leads are damaged.
  4. Disconnect power and discharge capacitors before measuring resistance.
  5. Use correct input jacks and function settings for each measurement.

WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Do not use on circuits exceeding 600V AC/DC. Ensure proper fuse rating when measuring current.

Getting Started

Unpack and inspect contents. Install battery before first use.

  1. Install battery: Open battery compartment, insert 9V battery.
  2. Connect test leads: Black to COM, red to VΩmA for most measurements.
  3. Turn function dial to desired measurement type.
  4. Power on: Some models turn on when dial is rotated from OFF position.
  5. Test continuity: Touch probe tips to verify meter operation (buzzer should sound).

CAUTION! Always start with highest measurement range if unknown value. Verify meter is working properly before use.

Specifications

Controls and Display

Front Panel: Function selector dial, LCD display, HOLD button, input jacks.

Display Symbols: AC/DC indicators, low battery, hold, overload, unit symbols (V, A, Ω, etc.).

Function Dial Positions: OFF, V⎓ (DC voltage), V~ (AC voltage), A⎓ (DC current), A~ (AC current), Ω (resistance), ))) (continuity), diode symbol, Hz (frequency), F (capacitance), °C/°F (temperature).

Input Jacks: COM (common/black lead), VΩmA (red lead for voltage/resistance/small current), 10ADC (red lead for high current up to 10A).

Measurement Procedures

Always turn off power to circuit before connecting meter for resistance or continuity tests.

  1. Voltage: Set to V⎓ or V~, connect leads in parallel with circuit.
  2. Current: Set to A⎓ or A~, connect leads in series with circuit (use 10A jack for >200mA).
  3. Resistance: Set to Ω, ensure circuit is de-energized, connect across component.
  4. Continuity: Set to ))) symbol, touch probes together for buzzer test.
  5. Diode Test: Set to diode symbol, connect red to anode, black to cathode.
  6. Capacitance: Set to F, discharge capacitor first, connect across capacitor.
  7. Frequency: Set to Hz, connect across signal source.
  8. Temperature: Set to °C/°F, connect temperature probe (if included).

Tip: Use HOLD button to freeze readings in hard-to-see locations. Press again to release.

Battery Replacement

Replace battery when low battery indicator appears.

  1. Turn meter OFF and disconnect test leads.
  2. Remove screw from battery compartment cover.
  3. Replace old 9V battery with new one, observing polarity.
  4. Replace cover and secure screw.
  5. Dispose of old battery properly according to local regulations.

WARNING! Do not operate meter with battery cover removed. Risk of electric shock.

Care & Maintenance

Clean meter with dry cloth only. Store in protective case when not in use.

  1. Keep meter dry and free from dust.
  2. Do not expose to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  3. Inspect test leads regularly for damage.
  4. Replace fuses only with identical type and rating.
  5. Calibrate annually for accurate measurements.

CAUTION! Never use abrasives or solvents. Do not immerse in water. Keep away from strong magnetic fields.
