Safety Precautions

Read all safety information before use. Use proper personal protective equipment.

  1. Do not use if meter or test leads are damaged.
  2. Do not measure voltage exceeding 600V AC/DC.
  3. Use correct input jacks and function settings for measurement.
  4. Disconnect test leads from circuit before changing function.
  5. Replace battery and fuse with specified types only.

WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Do not use in wet environments or on energized circuits above rated voltage.

Getting Started

Insert battery, connect test leads, and select measurement function.

  1. Install battery: Open battery compartment, insert 9V battery.
  2. Connect test leads: Insert black lead into COM jack, red lead into VΩmA jack.
  3. Turn on meter: Rotate function switch to desired measurement function.
  4. Take measurement: Apply test leads to circuit or component.
  5. Read display: Note reading on LCD.

CAUTION! Ensure meter is set to correct function before applying to circuit to prevent damage.

Specifications

Controls and Display

Rotary Function Switch: Selects measurement function. Input Jacks: COM (common), VΩmA (voltage/resistance/mA), 10A (high current).

Display Symbols: AC, DC, V, A, Ω, diode, continuity, data hold, low battery, overload.

Buttons: HOLD (data hold), SELECT (function selection), RANGE (manual range selection).

Measurement Procedures

Voltage: Set to V~ (AC) or V⎓ (DC), connect leads in parallel. Current: Set to A~ or A⎓, connect leads in series, use 10A jack for >200mA. Resistance: Set to Ω, ensure circuit is de-energized.

  1. Turn off power to circuit before measuring resistance or continuity.
  2. Select appropriate range or use auto-ranging.
  3. Connect test leads to correct jacks for measurement type.

Tip: Start with highest range when measuring unknown voltage or current.

Diode & Continuity Testing

Diode Test: Set to diode symbol, connect red lead to anode, black to cathode; forward voltage 0.5V-0.8V typical. Continuity: Set to buzzer symbol; buzzer sounds for resistance <50Ω.

  1. Ensure circuit is de-energized and capacitors discharged.
  2. Connect test leads to component.
  3. For diode test, reverse leads to check for open circuit (OL displayed).
  4. For continuity, buzzer indicates low resistance path.

WARNING! Do not apply voltage to meter in diode or continuity mode.

Data Hold & Auto Power Off

Data Hold: Press HOLD to freeze display reading; press again to release. Auto Power Off: Meter turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity; press any button to restart.

Battery Replacement

Replace 9V battery when low battery indicator appears.

  1. Turn off meter and disconnect test leads.
  2. Remove screw from battery compartment cover.
  3. Replace old battery with new 9V battery.
  4. Replace cover and screw.

CAUTION! Use only specified battery type. Dispose of old battery properly.

Care & Storage

Clean with dry cloth only. Store in protective case in dry location.

CAUTION! Do not expose to extreme temperatures, moisture, or direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Display blankBattery dead or not installedReplace battery; ensure proper installation.
Inaccurate readingsLow battery; wrong function; damaged leadsReplace battery; select correct function; inspect leads.
No continuity buzzerCircuit not continuous; buzzer disabledCheck circuit; ensure continuity mode selected.
Meter does not turn onBattery; function switchReplace battery; ensure switch is in ON position.
