Safety Precautions

Read all instructions before use. This meter is designed for indoor use.

  1. Do not use on circuits exceeding 600V AC/DC.
  2. Do not measure current while the meter is set to voltage or resistance modes.
  3. Ensure test leads are in correct input jacks for measurement type.
  4. Do not use if meter or test leads are damaged.
  5. Use caution when working with live circuits.

WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Do not use in wet environments or on energized circuits beyond its rated capacity.

Parts Identification

Front Panel Layout:

  1. Clamp Jaw: Opens to clamp around conductor.
  2. LCD Display: Shows measurement value and symbols.
  3. Function Selector Switch: Rotate to V~ (AC Voltage), V⎓ (DC Voltage), A~ (AC Current), Ω (Resistance), ))) (Continuity), diode symbol.
  4. Input Jacks: COM (common), VΩ (voltage/resistance/diode/continuity).
  5. Buttons: POWER, HOLD (Data Hold), BACKLIGHT (if equipped).

CAUTION! Always disconnect test leads from circuit before changing function selector position.

Specifications

Measurement Procedures

Turn function selector to desired mode. For clamp current, ensure jaw is fully closed around single conductor.

AC Voltage: Set to V~. Insert black lead into COM, red into VΩ. Touch probes to circuit. Read value.

DC Voltage: Set to V⎓. Connect as above. Red probe to positive, black to negative.

AC Current: Set to A~. Press trigger to open jaw, clamp around wire. Ensure jaw is cleanly closed.

Resistance: Set to Ω. Ensure circuit is de-energized. Connect probes across component.

Continuity: Set to ))) symbol. Connect probes. Buzzer sounds for continuity.

Diode Test: Set to diode symbol. Red probe to anode, black to cathode. Forward voltage drop shown.

Battery Replacement

Replace battery when low battery indicator appears.

  1. Turn meter OFF and disconnect all test leads.
  2. Remove screw from battery compartment cover.
  3. Replace old 9V battery with new one, observing polarity.
  4. Replace cover and secure screw.
  5. Dispose of old battery properly.

WARNING! Do not operate meter with battery cover removed. Risk of electric shock.

Care & Maintenance

Clean with dry cloth. Store in a dry place. Do not expose to extreme temperatures or moisture.

CAUTION! Do not use solvents or abrasives. Keep jaw clean and free of debris for accurate current readings.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
No displayBattery dead or installed incorrectlyReplace battery ensuring correct polarity.
Inaccurate readingsLow battery, poor connections, wrong modeReplace battery; check leads and connections; select correct function.
Clamp reads zero or erratic currentJaw not closed fully, measuring multiple wiresEnsure jaw is clean and fully closed around a single conductor.
Continuity buzzer doesn't soundResistance too high, circuit energized, leads faultyTest on known good conductor; de-energize circuit; check test leads.
Display shows "OL"Measurement exceeds range, open circuitSelect higher range if manual ranging; check for open circuit.

Reset: Turn meter OFF and ON. Remove battery for 30 seconds if meter locks up.
