Safety Precautions

Read all instructions before use. This meter is designed for use in dry, indoor environments.

  1. Do not use on circuits exceeding the meter's rated voltage.
  2. Always inspect test leads, probes, and the meter for damage before use.
  3. Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with live circuits.
  4. When measuring current, ensure the jaws are fully closed around a single conductor.
  5. Do not use the meter if it operates abnormally. Protection may be impaired.

WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Do not use the meter if the case is open or damaged. Ensure the function selector is set to the correct measurement type before connecting to a circuit.

Parts Identification

  1. Clamp Jaw: Opens to clamp around a conductor for current measurement.
  2. LCD Display: Shows numeric readings, symbols, and function indicators.
  3. Function Selector Dial: Rotate to choose AC Voltage (V~), DC Voltage (V=), AC Current (A~), DC Current (A=), Resistance (Ω), Continuity (⎓)), etc.
  4. Buttons: POWER, HOLD (Data Hold), LIGHT (Backlight).
  5. Input Terminals: COM (Common/Black lead), VΩ (Red lead for Voltage/Resistance).
  6. Battery Compartment: Holds the battery (typically 9V).

CAUTION! Never apply voltage or current to the meter when the function dial is set to Resistance (Ω) or Continuity (⎓)).

Specifications

Display and Controls

Access functions via the rotary dial and front panel buttons.

LCD Symbols: AC (~), DC (⎓), Hold (H), Auto-range (AUTO), Low Battery (⏚), Overload (OL).

Controls: POWER: Turns meter on/off. FUNCTION DIAL: Selects measurement mode. HOLD: Press to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release. LIGHT: Press to turn the backlight on/off.

Auto Power Off: The meter will automatically turn off after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity to save battery. Press the POWER button to turn it back on.

Measurement Procedures

General Steps: Turn meter on. Set function dial. Connect test leads (if required). Take reading.

  1. AC/DC Voltage: Set dial to V~ or V=. Insert black lead into COM, red into VΩ. Touch probes to circuit. Read value.
  2. AC/DC Current (Clamp): Set dial to A~ or A=. Press jaw trigger to open clamp. Enclose a single conductor within the jaws. Close jaws fully. Read value on display.
  3. Resistance: Set dial to Ω. Ensure circuit is de-energized. Connect leads across component. Read value.
  4. Continuity Test: Set dial to ⎓. Connect leads across wire/path. A continuous beep indicates continuity (low resistance).
  5. Data Hold: Press HOLD at any time to freeze the displayed value.

Tip: For accurate current measurement, center the conductor within the clamp jaws.

Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator (⏚) appears, replace the battery promptly.

  1. Turn the meter OFF and disconnect all test leads.
  2. Remove the screw(s) on the battery compartment cover.
  3. Remove the old 9V battery.
  4. Insert a new 9V battery, observing correct polarity.
  5. Replace the cover and secure the screw(s).

WARNING! Dispose of the old battery according to local regulations. Do not mix old and new batteries.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug test leads and turn the meter off before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. Do not use abrasives or solvents.

Storage: Store in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Remove the battery if the meter will not be used for an extended period.

CAUTION! Do not expose the meter to water, excessive moisture, or dust. Keep the clamp jaws clean and free of debris.
