WARNING! Risk of electric shock. Do not use on electrically live circuits unless trained. Ensure all connections are secure.
Front Panel Overview:
CAUTION! Always insert black test lead into COM jack. Red lead into appropriate jack for measurement.
General Steps:
Measuring Voltage: Set to V⎓ (DC) or V~ (AC). Connect leads in parallel with circuit.
Measuring Current: Set to A⎓. Connect leads in series with circuit. Use 10A jack for >200mA.
Measuring Resistance: Set to Ω. Ensure circuit is de-energized. Connect across component.
Continuity Test: Set to •))) symbol. Buzzer sounds for low resistance.
Diode Test: Set to •|► symbol. Red lead to anode, black to cathode. Typical reading 0.5V-0.8V.
Replace battery when low battery indicator appears.
WARNING! Do not operate with battery cover removed. Dispose of old battery properly.
Clean with dry cloth only. Store in dry place. Do not expose to extreme temperatures.
CAUTION! Do not use solvents or abrasives. Keep away from moisture and dust.
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| No display | Dead battery | Replace 9V battery. |
| Inaccurate readings | Wrong function/range | Select correct function and range. |
| Display shows "1" or "OL" | Overload/out of range | Select higher range. |
| Continuity buzzer not sounding | High resistance/open circuit | Check connections; resistance >30Ω won't buzz. |
| Meter not turning on | Battery installed incorrectly | Check battery polarity and connection. |
Fuse Replacement: If current measurements fail, check and replace fuse (if equipped) with identical rating.
