Safety Precautions

Read all instructions before use to ensure safe operation.

  1. Laser Safety: Do not point laser at eyes or reflective surfaces. Class II laser product.
  2. Measurement Limitations: Measures surface temperature only. Not for internal body temperature.
  3. Environmental Factors: Avoid steam, dust, or extreme temperatures that affect accuracy.
  4. Battery Safety: Use correct battery type; remove if not used for extended periods.

WARNING! Never aim the laser at people or animals. Device is not a medical thermometer.

First-Time Setup

Prepare the thermometer for initial use.

  1. Install batteries: Open compartment, insert 2 AAA batteries observing polarity.
  2. Power on: Press and hold Power/Measure trigger for 2 seconds.
  3. Set units: Press Mode button to toggle between °C and °F.
  4. Test measurement: Aim at a known surface to verify operation.

CAUTION! Ensure lens is clean and free of obstructions before first use.

Specifications

Controls and Display

Front Panel: Power/Measure trigger, Mode button, Laser button. Display Icons: Temperature reading, Battery indicator, °C/°F, HOLD, Emissivity value, Laser on indicator.

Button Functions:

Display Modes: Normal measurement, Data Hold, Max/Min/Avg, Emissivity setting.

Taking Measurements

For accurate readings, follow proper technique.

  1. Power on device by pressing trigger.
  2. Aim at target surface using laser pointer if needed.
  3. Hold thermometer perpendicular to surface at proper distance (see D:S ratio).
  4. Press and hold trigger to take measurement.
  5. Read temperature on display; release trigger.
  6. Use Data Hold if needed: Press Mode button while measurement is displayed.

Tip: For best accuracy, target should be larger than spot size indicated by laser.

Emissivity Adjustment

Different materials emit infrared energy differently. Adjust emissivity for accurate readings.

  1. Access emissivity mode: Press Mode button until "E=" appears.
  2. Adjust value: Use trigger to increase, laser button to decrease.
  3. Common settings: Human skin (0.98), Wood (0.94), Metal (polished 0.05-0.10, oxidized 0.30-0.70)
  4. Exit: Press Mode button to return to measurement mode.

Note: Default emissivity is 0.95, suitable for most organic materials.

Advanced Functions

Max/Min/Avg: Hold Mode button for 3 seconds to display maximum, minimum, and average of last 10 measurements. Backlight: Press Mode button twice quickly to toggle backlight. Calibration Check: Use ice water method (0°C/32°F) or boiling water method (100°C/212°F at sea level) to verify accuracy.

Care & Maintenance

Unload batteries before cleaning. Use soft cloth with mild detergent for exterior. Clean lens with lens tissue or cotton swab with alcohol.

CAUTION! Never immerse in water. Avoid abrasive cleaners on lens.
