Safety Precautions

Read all instructions before use. Keep out of reach of children.

  1. Do not point laser at eyes or reflective surfaces.
  2. Do not use on living beings without medical approval.
  3. Avoid measuring through glass or transparent surfaces.
  4. Keep device dry and away from extreme temperatures.
  5. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods.

WARNING! Laser radiation; avoid direct eye exposure. Device is for surface temperature measurement only.

First-Time Setup

Install batteries and configure basic settings.

  1. Install batteries: Open compartment, insert 2 AAA batteries observing polarity.
  2. Power on: Press POWER button; display will show battery level.
  3. Set temperature unit: Press MODE to toggle between °C and °F.
  4. Test measurement: Aim at safe surface and press trigger to verify operation.

CAUTION! Ensure batteries are correctly installed to prevent damage.

Specifications

Controls and Display

Front Panel: POWER button, Trigger, Laser button, MODE button, HOLD button. Display Icons: Battery indicator, Laser on, Hold, °C/°F, Emissivity value, Measurement reading.

Button Functions: POWER: On/Off. Trigger: Take measurement. Laser: Toggle targeting laser. MODE: Switch °C/°F. HOLD: Freeze current reading. Emissivity: Adjust via combination press (MODE + POWER).

Display: Shows current temperature, unit, battery status, and active functions. Backlight activates during measurement in low light.

Measurement Procedure

For accurate readings, follow proper technique.

  1. Power on device and select desired unit (°C/°F).
  2. Set emissivity appropriate for surface (default 0.95 for most materials).
  3. Press Laser button to activate targeting (optional).
  4. Aim at target surface, ensuring distance-to-spot ratio (12:1) is maintained.
  5. Press and hold trigger to take measurement; release to hold reading.
  6. Read temperature on display; use HOLD to freeze value if needed.
  7. Device auto powers off after 15 seconds of inactivity.

Tip: Measure clean, opaque surfaces for best accuracy. Avoid steam, dust, or reflective materials.

Emissivity Adjustment

Emissivity affects accuracy; adjust for different materials.

  1. Access emissivity setting: Press and hold MODE + POWER for 3 seconds.
  2. Use MODE to increase value, HOLD to decrease (range 0.1 to 1.0).
  3. Press POWER to confirm and exit.
  4. Common values: 0.95 (most surfaces), 0.85 (painted metal), 0.3 (polished metal).

Note: Refer to material emissivity chart in appendix for specific values.

Data Functions

Data Hold: Press HOLD during measurement to freeze reading. Max/Min: Device records highest and lowest readings during session (access via MODE + HOLD). Backlight: Automatically activates in low light; press Laser + MODE to toggle manually.

Care & Maintenance

Clean lens with soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or water.

  1. Store in protective case when not in use.
  2. Remove batteries if storing longer than 1 month.
  3. Avoid dropping or exposing to extreme shock.
  4. Keep lens cap on when not measuring.

CAUTION! Do not disassemble device; no user-serviceable parts inside.
